Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to already know what I want my text to say before I can ask for a quote?
No, there’s absolutely no requirement for you to know what kind of text you want before asking for a quote. Once you contact me, I’ll talk to you about different options for your project. (As we talk, many of my clients realize they do know what they want their text to say after all!) Then, I’ll usually do additional research before presenting you with a choice of topics or suggested outline.

For example, say you only know that you want a series of blog articles targeted at local small businesses, but not what they should be about or even how long they should be. I would start by reading through any text you already have, such as your website or business plan. Then, I’d interview you about your service or product to identify points likely to be of interest to customers. I might even reach out to the local Chamber of Commerce to ask for available statistics on relevant local businesses to target. Then, I’d draft a list of potential blog articles, including suggested length and images, for you to choose from. My writing work would proceed as usual from there.

Do you use artificial intelligence (AI) or Large Language Models (LLMs) for any aspect of your writing?
No, absolutely not. My point of view is that when you hire a writer, you’re specifically paying for a human touch that machines can’t emulate. I’m also strongly against plagiarism, which is an unfortunately common outcome when generating text trained on other people’s writing. Anything I write for you is guaranteed 100% original.

Once I’ve turned over a draft to you, however, you are welcome to use the text however you like. For example, you might choose to add it to your AI chatbot’s knowledge base, or prompt an LLM to excerpt sections for a targeted email campaign. It’s completely up to you.

What if my product is too complicated to explain?
I’ve got twenty years of experience in various technical fields and a B.S. cum laude in Computer Science. Try me.

I also need a graphic designer. Do you know anyone?
I do have a couple graphic designers I regularly work with for projects like info-graphics and brochures. If you like, I can contact them and negotiate a rate for design for you. Just let me know.
